WP1: Identification and characterization of BNI producing genotypes

P. lanceolata genotypes from different origins and germplasm collections will be screened for BNI production in controlled conditions using both hydroponic and soil-based approaches. Root exudates and plant tissues will be investigated for the BNI trait and correlation with plantain quantity of active compounds such as aucubin and verbascoside will be established.
At the end of WP1, the screening activities will enable the selection of at least 2 and up to 4 P. lanceolata genotypes to be used in the following WP activities.
